From primary readers to comprehensive tertiary texts – great New Zealand content being published for our schools was celebrated at a lively function in Devonport, Auckland last night.
The evening was warmed up by Close Harmony – Auckland Regional Barbershop Quartet Competition Champions for 2014 from Westlake Boys High School.
Authors and publishers heard the vastly experienced judges challenge the industry to focus on student need - materials that actively engage their minds and stimulate them to want more.
Carolyn Stuart, Education Sector Lead at Network for Learning, gave a teacher’s view of how content works in a classroom and how N4L’s new content portal – Pond – is looking unite New Zealand teachers and students with providers of educational content and services.
MC David Glover summed up the state of both publishing and education in New Zealand at present by saying “disruption, disruption and more disruption – it’s just everywhere”.
